A poem.

they say the best love stories are the ones that end in tragedy

and i never understood how that could be

until i met you.

i know now that some love was never meant to spark

and that the accidental fire that ensues

will never be long lived.

and some flowers never get a chance to blossom

and i wonder if that’s the same thing

as our ill-fated match.

it’s hard to admit that a feeling so strong

can be denied by society alone

but here we are.

i watch you everyday with great sadness in my eyes

begging the clutches of fate to release me

so i can move on.

but she keeps her grasp firm on me

and i keep my eyes trained on you

but it’s lonely.

now I see with my own eyes

that love is the saddest tragedy

of all.
